Review: Suesh Stippling Brush

I must admit that I always want to find better ways of applying my makeup.

Unlike other girls who prefer to use their hands, I am constantly looking to try new tools that I can use on my face and make my makeup application easier. I understand how some people would prefer to use their fingers, as the body’s natural heat will make the makeup runnier and easier to apply.  Personally, though, I find it quite messy, and so I only use my fingers when I apply tinted moisturizers and BB creams.

[Note: this will change soon; I have already ordered Beauty Blender from Airvony, so I expect to use it for everything. No more messy fingers!]

So of course I simply had to get a stippling brush, which supposedly allows you to deposit color on your face in an airbrushed manner. The most popular one, from what I’ve read online, is the MAC 187. Now being the cheapo person that I am, I simply cannot justify such an expensive purchase! I know, it’s kinda ironic given my love for beauty products, but that amount for a brush?

Bitch, please.

So I ordered from a local seller, Suesh, who is already well-known in Manila for their brushes. I’ve ordered a flat foundation brush from them before, and I found it quite nice so I was confident that their stippling brush would be fine as well.

Unfortunately, their stippling brush did not live up to expectations. I already knew that it would be a lot less dense that the MAC. That’s fine with me. However, I found the brush hairs too soft, and that’s a no-no for stippling brushes. We want soft hairs for most brushes, but for a stippling brush, that would mean that application would be a lot more problematic as it would not deposit the color on the face as well as it should.

Weirdly enough, using it on the face can be a tiny bit painful, which shouldn’t be the case since the brush hairs, as I mentioned, are soft. I can only say that overall the texture of the brush is quite rough.

Shedding was another problem I encountered, even after washing the brush twice. It makes my face sooo itchy.

Overall, I did not find it a very good brush :(

Instead, watch out for my review of my Etude House Dual Fibre Cheek Brush, which I have been constantly using for the past few weeks. It’s a dupe of MAC 188 and is smaller, but I love it to bits. I use it for both foundation and blush and I am totally nuts about it right now so wait for it!

we’re so alike! i like using my foundies with tools! lol. and i use fingers for bb creams and tinted moisturizers! i find using tinted moisturizers with your fingers since it maximizes it’s coverage/concealing properties. you should try the beauty blender or the suesh flat foundation brush!

Hi Emily! I suggest you look for Etude House Dual Fibre Cheek Brush! It’s smaller but it’s a very very good stippler. thelittlecoolshop.multiply.com occasionally carries it, though you can also check eBay :D

i only use loose powder foundation, so i don’t have too much problems applying it…the foundation brush on charm’s holiday travel set already works for me…

btw,i read somewhere that if one has oily skin, it’s not really advisable to use the fingers when applying primer or foundation because it the heat would activate the glands where oil comes from…
