Are you sick of my bb cream reviews yet?
Today I bring you my judgment for two not-quite-popular bb creams, both from the Korean brand Mamonde. I’m not an expert, but from what I recall, Mamonde is part of the Amore Pacific Group. It’s unmistakable actually, as I could smell my Laneige products while applying these bb creams on my face.
I bought these as part of my bb cream samples haul, wherein I purchased several different brands of bb cream in tiny sizes so I could try more stuff without breaking the bank. (Full disclosure: I bought smaller tubes so I could spend less on bb creams and more on other skincare stuff LOL)
So anyway, here are my reviews for two bb creams from Mamonde’s Total Solution line: Mineral Moisture and Mineral Watery BB Creams. They may be from the same company, but trust me,these are two very different products.
Mineral Moisture BB Cream
I actually like this. Its overall effect is not unlike that of Skin79, as it’s very sheer and quite glowy. I love how my face feels right after I apply this, and my face stays quite cool even after I top up with finishing powder. My face looks and feels fresh.
Yays
- Consistency is quite liquid, making it easy to spread
- Scent is lovely and refreshing, not distracting or overpowering
- It has a cool effect on skin upon application; skin stays smooth and cool to the touch even after powdering
- Coverage is sheer (could be a “nay” for some, but for me I liked it sheer)
- Finished look is glow-y, not oily
- Color matching is not a problem; easily blends with skin tone as its not too dark or too light
Nays
- Sun protection is low at only SPF20/PA+
- Does not control oil very well
- May leave dry patches on skin
- Staying power is not as effective
Mineral Watery BB Cream
I had high hopes for this one, but sadly, it failed me quite terribly. I don’t know how to explain the level of fail this bb cream achieved. Bad, bad, bad.
Yays
- SPF35/PA++ (still insufficient, but it’s gotta count as a “yay”)
Nays
- Water actually seems to separate from the tint; hence there seems to be an oil/water separation
- Coverage (as a result) is splotchy
- Looks odd on the skin
I seriously don’t know what happened. Am I supposed to shake the tube? Is that something expected of bb creams at all? Suffice it to say that this was just a bad, bad experience of mine. I don’t think any bb cream has failed me this badly before.
So will I repurchase? I don’t think so. I liked Mineral Moisture, but not enough. I can get Missha Watery or BRTC Jasmine for better consistency and coverage than what Mamonde offers.
